The Sound Of Music Coming To Long Island

The hills are live—and soon will the island.

The Sound of Music is set to open on Long Island Wednesday at the Gateway Playhouse in Bellport.

The historic show, which will run until Aug.17, will begin with three preview shows and have 24 total performances.

With the original Broadway production debuting in 1958, the Richard Rodgers musical will feature Brandi Brukhardt in the lead role, which was made famous by Mary Martin and Julie Andrews.

Brukhardt, who is making her Gateway debut, has credits in numerous film and television productions and starred in the Broadway hit, Mamma Mia.

Captain von Trapp will be played by Ryan K. Bailer who is also making his Gateway debut.
