PATCHOGUE, NY — Amid news that Boston and Dublin have canceled their St. Patrick's Day parades due to the possibility of spreading COVID-19, Patchogue town officials will be watching ongoing developments before making any decisions, Trustee Lori Devlin told Patch. New York City Mayor Bill deBlasio and Governer Andrew Cuomo have told reporters that they are looking at the possibility of canceling New York's parade but as of Tuesday morning it was still scheduled to go n as planned.

Devlin echoed deBlasio's statements that plans and decisions are in flux and will depend on the progression of the new coronavirus virus in Suffolk County in the days to come. "We are monitoring the situation and will continue to monitor what happens next week," she told Patch.

The Patchogue parade is scheduled for March 22nd. There have been no confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the Town of Brookhaven. On Sunday, the first case of the coronavirus in Suffolk County was confirmed on the North Fork.
