Van Sideswipes Vehicle In Patchogue Hit-And-Run: Police

A person who was getting out of the vehicle was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue, Suffolk police say.

PATCHOGUE, NY — A van sideswiped a vehicle while a person was getting out in a hit-and run crash in Patchogue on Tuesday night, Suffolk police said.

The person was stepping out of a vehicle on Maple Avenue at around 9:30 p.m., when it was struck, according to police.

The person was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for evaluation, police said.

It was one of two crashes over three hours in Brookhaven Town, according to police.

About three hours earlier at around 6:19 p.m., a bicyclist was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of northbound William Floyd Parkway and Neighborhood Road in Shirley, police said.

The person suffered minor injuries, according to police.

Further details were not available.

In a third crash that happened early Wednesday morning, a person was struck and seriously injured inRonkonkoma, police said.
