Pearl River Week in Review: Fall Sports Practicing, Route 9W Safety
Pearl River sports got started with the first day of football practice and the Pearl River School District reacted to community concerns and cleaned up the 9/11 Memorial and playground on Central Ave. Field.
Pearl River fall sports kicked off for 2012 with the opening day of football practice Friday, with the rest of the teams getting to work today.

- The Pearl River School District administration reacted quickly to a report that the 9/11 Memorial and playground on Central Ave. Field were in need of maintenance, clearing weeds and improving conditions overall. The district owns the property.
- The New York State Department of Transportation began placing bike safety signs along Route 9W in Orangetown and Clarkstown, including one in front of Tappan Zee Elementary School.
- Patch covered the Maccabi Games from the opening ceremonies through the JCC Cares community service day to the closing carnival.
- The Rebuild Hi-Tor Animal Care Center effort came to seek out volunteers and answer questions Tuesday at Orangetown Town Hall.
- According to Orangetown Police, Pamela G. Nee of Valley Cottage was charged with drunken driving after hitting a parked car on E. Central Avenue in Pearl River.
