Voters Weigh In For Rockland County Legislature Election
Election results are still coming in.
NEW CITY, NY — Registered voters in Rockland County had decisions to make Tuesday at the ballot box.
There were elections for every seat on the Rockland Board of Legislators, but only nine were contested races. Still, there will be turnover, because longtime lawmakers Harriet Cornell, Chris Carey, Laurie Santulli, Michael Grant and Vincent Tyer did not seek re-election.
In recent days, Rockland Republicans attacked Democratic challengers Beth Davidson, Dana Stilly, Jesse Malowitz and David Bruen, showing a photo of them meeting with County Legislators Toney Earl, Aney Paul and Aron Wieder, all Democrats. The GOP Facebook post asked why they would meet with Wieder, who represents part of Ramapo — since, they alleged, he opposes the challengers' positions on issues such as abortion rights and climate change.

GOP lawmaker James Foley, who faced an apparently successful challenge from Stilly, had attacked all Democrats in the Legislature because, he alleged, they "caucus with the corrupt and dishonest Ramapo members."
