There's plenty of spooky fun going on near Pearl River

PEARL RIVER, NY—If you waited to make Halloween plans, never fear. There's plenty of scary stuff going on through Halloween. Whether you're taking the kids trick-or-treating or want to explore haunted houses with friends who are not easily frightened, read on.

Rockland

Nyack Halloween Parade, Nyack

The Nyack Chamber of Commerce will host its 30th annual Halloween Parade on Oct. 28 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. (rain date Sunday, October 29).

Building on a history of record-breaking crowds, over 15,000 spectators are expected to line the streets of Main and Broadway for this fun-filled, family-friendly event, featuring marching bands, festooned fire trucks, floats and a host of costumed revelers — with cash prizes going to the most creative among the parade’s participants.

Family Friendly Halloween Bash, West Nyack

Halloween cookie decorating, a costume contest and bowling from noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 29 at Lucky Strike, 4662 Palisades Center Drive, West Nyack. Tickets for kids ages 2 to 17 are $19.95 and include lunch.

The Forest of Fear, Tuxedo Park
WARNING: The Forest of Fear contains scenes so horrific that some visitors may find it disturbing. This year's celebration of horror takes place through Oct. 29 at 600 Route 17A, Tuxedo Park. Tickets range from $16 to 30 and while you can probably get a ticket after waiting on line, group tickets need to be ordered in advance.

Pure Terror Scream Park, Monroe
The Scream Park—with no less than six haunted houses—is open weekends through Nov.4. Visitors enter through dark creepy woods to visit the haunted houses complete with live actors, movie quality sets
and special effects. Although you can get tickets by waiting on the admission line, a VIP pass allows you to skip the long wait. Group tickets are also available online. The park is located at 299 Museum Village Road, Monroe.

Mid Hudson Valley

Kevin McCurdy's Haunted Mansion, Wappingers Falls

Each of the mansion's haunted rooms is staged with actors, set pieces and animatronics. The event runs through Oct. 31 at the mansion in Bowdoin Park, 38 Sheafe Rd., Wappingers Falls. For ticket

New Paltz Halloween Parade

Ghosts and goblins meet up at 6 p.m. on Halloween at Main Street and Manheim Boulevard for the New Paltz Halloween Parade. Fun and revelry for all. The parade ends at the Fire House, where the Lions Club will distribute apples and candy.

Barn of Terror, Lake Katrine

The last day for this event is Oct. 29 or, as those manning the barn like to say, "until there are no bodies left." The barn of terror features eight rooms of barn-related frights, a ‘shocking Silo’, Double-Dare mine
shaft and the ‘Freaks of Cornville.’ Tickets are $33 but there's a reduced group rate as well as a special discount for police, firemen, EMS technicians, military and reserve military and veterans showing their photo ID. The Barn of Terror is located at 25 Thru View Farm Road on Old Kings Highway, Lake Katrine.

Westchester

Halloween Carnival/Open House, Rye

Live music, games, pumpkin patch, face painting, crafts, bounce house, Spooky Swim and much more (bring swim suits and caps) take place at 2 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Rye YMCA, 21 Locust Avenue, Rye. free and open to the community. Registration required - please RSVP to FamilyFun@ryeymca.org

The Haunt at Ricky Ledge, White Plains

The Haunt at Rocky Ledge is a frightening event that features two haunted houses, a long terrifying walk through the woods, and what has been described as Westchester's only haunted cornfield. Be prepared for a
nightmarish good time and the possibility of losing yourself on the eight acre property. The event runs weekends through Oct. 29 at 142 Old Orchard Street, White Plains. Ticket information will be up here.

Horseman's Hollow, Sleepy Hollow

This weekend historic Philipsburg Manor is transformed into a terrifying landscape patrolled by the Headless Horseman from "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." Tickets start at $20. The event takes place evenings Oct. 26 - 31 at 778 Broadway in Sleepy Hollow.

The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze, Croton-on-Hudson

If jack o' lanterns are your favorite part of Halloween—or even fall— you can't miss an event that transforms jack o' lanterns into a Statue of Liberty, aquatic creatures, trains, even dinosaurs. Tickets start at $20, children 3 - 17 are $16 (Fridays and Saturdays it's $25 and $20). Children under 3 are free. Tickets are on sale for blazes through October and November at 525 South Riverside Avenue in Croton-on-Hudson.

Halloween Celebration, Ossining

This year, families are invited to join Ossining's first responders downtown on Halloween night for Trunk-or-Treat! It all starts with a costume parade. That steps off from the Community Center, 95 Broadway, at 5:30 p.m. Trick-or-treaters will walk over to Main Street for the festivities.

Halloween Fun - Ages 4 to 6 - and Halloween Horror Programs for Older Kids, Chappaqua

Stories, songs and trick or treating for kids 4 to 6 take place from 4 to 5 p.m. Oct. 27 in the Chappaqua Library Children's Room. The library is located at 195 South Greeley Street, Chappaqua. Halloween Horror, grades K and up, with adult, takes place at 7 p.m. Oct. 30.

Halloween Parade and Carnival, Yorktown

The Halloween parade will begin at 2 p.m. the Yorktown Plaza Park (Rexall’s). Participants will march to the Yorktown Community and Cultural Center for outdoor Halloween activities, costume showcase, hay
rides and entertainment. Free to all Yorktown residents. No registration required.

Halloween Family Costume Party, Peekskill

Families are invited to show up dressed in costume for a Halloween Family Costume Partyat 11 a.m. Oct. 28 at the Division Street Grill, 26 North Division Street. Music, games, raffle prizes and a costume contest.

Merchants Urchins Parade, New Rochelle

Celebrate Halloween in downtown New Rochelle with the annual Merchant's Urchins Parade followed by pumpkin painting and other fun activities at the New Rochelle Grand Market. Line-up for the parade
begins at 9:45 a.m. in front of Regal Cinema at New Roc City. The parade starts at 10 a.m. and ends at the Grand Market on Library Green.

Putnam

Halloween at the Putnam History Museum, Cold Spring

The Putnam History Museum invites parents to stop by with little ones for trick-or-treating from 4 to 7 p.m., with apple cider, snacks, and games. Don’t forget your costumes!
