500 Envelopes Of Heroin, Crack Seized After Traffic Stop Takes A Turn

Peekskill police said the driver, who briefly fled on foot after police stopped his car, now faces felony charges.

PEEKSKILL, NY — A massive drug seizure in Westchester, following a chase, was the result of an early morning traffic stop.

On Monday, at 2:30 a.m., a Peekskill police officer stopped a car on Nelson Avenue. As the vehicle came to a stop, a man exited the vehicle and began running away, according to police.

The officer pursued the man for a short distance before apprehending him on Main Street. The man, identified as Peekskill resident Corey M. Blair, was found to be in possession of around 95 grams of crack cocaine, an estimated 53 grams of heroin/fentanyl, approximately 500 glassine envelopes containing heroin/fentanyl, and over $5,000.00 in cash.

Blair was arraigned before the City of Peekskill court and charged with two felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of criminal use of drug paraphernalia and one count of obstructing governmental administration.

He was remanded to the custody of the Westchester County jail pending future court appearances.
