Cortlandt To Kick Off Food Scrap Recycling Program

CORTLANDT, NY — The Cortlandt Community Composting program will be kicked off Thursday in the town.

The town of Cortlandt and the Conservation Advisory Committee announced the program that aims to reduce waste by recycling food scraps into compost and lower the cost of municipal trash management.

The kick-off event will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Cortlandt Youth & Recreation Center, 3 Memorial Drive, Croton-on-Hudson, which is just before the Cortlandt Train Station.

Cortlandt will provide two drop-off sites for food scraps:

  • The Youth & Recreation Center near the Cortlandt Train Station in Croton
  • Muriel H. Morabito Community Center, 29 Westbrook Drive, Cortlandt Manor

Organizers said the first 100 residents to sign up will receive a free composting kit.
