Early Morning Traffic Stop Leads To Felony Weapons Charges: Police

During an inventory search of the car before it was impounded, Peekskill cops found a loaded 9mm Ruger pistol and a high-capacity magazine.

PEEKSKILL, NY — A man driving with a suspended license, also had a dangerous illegal weapon in the car, according to police.

On Monday, around 2:20 a.m., a Peekskill police officer stopped a car on the 700 block of North Division St.

The driver of the vehicle, Daniel J. Gonzalez, was found to be driving in violation of aggravated unlicensed operation in the first degree, a felony.

During an inventory search of the vehicle before it was impounded, officers found a loaded 9mm Ruger pistol and a high-capacity magazine.

Gonzalez, as well as two additional occupants of the vehicle, Aja Douglas and Jacob L. Poole, were each charged with felony second degree criminal possession of a weapon and felony third degree criminal possession of a weapon.

All three were taken into custody, and were awaiting arraignment in the City of Peekskill court.
