Fugitive Wanted In Fatal Westchester Stabbing Is Extradited From Mexico

On June 10, of last year, at 3:40 a.m., Peekskill police officers responded to reports of an altercation on Main Street.

On June 12, Walter F. Bustos-Solis was apprehended by federal authorities in Puebla City, Mexico. Bustos-Solis has since been extradited to the United States, and is now in the custody of the Peekskill Police Department, as well as the FBI.

PEEKSKILL, NY — A man wanted in connection to a fatal stabbing in Peekskill has been returned to the U.S. to face justice.

On June 12, Walter F. Bustos-Solis was apprehended by federal authorities in Puebla City, Mexico. Bustos-Solis has since been extradited to the United States, and is now in the custody of the Peekskill Police Department, as well as the FBI. He is scheduled to appear in federal court on Friday.

On June 10, of last year, at 3:40 a.m,, Peekskill police officers responded to reports of an altercation on the 900 block of Main Street. At the scene, officers found one victim, later identified as Carlos Rodriguez, who had sustained severe lacerations to the lower part of his body.

Officers provided medical attention to Rodriguez, who was then rushed to the Westchester Medical Center by EMS. Six days later, Rodriguez died as a result of injuries from the altercation.

Peekskill detectives identified Bustos-Solis as a suspect in this case.

The Peekskill Police Department thanked the FBI Westchester Safe Streets Task Force, the Waterbury Police Department, Connecticut State Police, the Westchester County District Attorney's Office, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, and Mexican federal authorities.
