NC Fugitive Apprehended In Peekskill: Police

Authorities said the 26-year-old man was accused of attempted murder in December in Greenville, North Carolina.

PEEKSKILL, NY — A North Carolina man who was on the run after being accused of trying to kill someone was apprehended in Peekskill Friday.

According to a Facebook post by the Westchester County Police Department, the 26-year-old man fled from North Carolina and attempted to hide in Peekskill.

He was tracked down by the department’s Warrant-Fugitive Unit detectives, with help from the City of Peekskill Police Department and the United States Secret Service.

Authorities said the man had a history as a gang member and weapons-related offenses, so special tactical officers were deployed to take him into custody.

He surrendered without incident, according to law enforcement.

Police said the man was wanted in connection with a December shooting in Greenville, North Carolina.

He waived extradition in court and is expected to be sent back to North Carolina shortly.
