Peekskill Man Among Those Killed In Manhattan Stabbing Spree

He was the first among three stabbed to death in a series of random attacks in Manhattan on Monday morning.

PEEKSKILL, NY — Today, loved ones are remembering a Westchester man who was the first to be killed in a seemingly random stabbing spree in Manhattan.

In all, three people were stabbed to death in the Monday morning tragic chain of events linked to a single suspect.

"Today we have three innocent New Yorkers, [just] going about their lives, who were victims of a terrible, terrible assault," said Mayor Eric Adams in a media briefing on Monday.

At about 8:20 a.m, Angel Lata Landi of Peekskill, was standing in front of the construction site where he worked at 444 West 19th Street when, "without warning," the 36-year-old was stabbed in the stomach. Landi was in critical condition when cops arrived. He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he later died.

The suspect behind the morning of violence, Ramon Rivera, is now in custody and was charged with three counts of murder in the first degree on Monday evening, according to the NYPD.

A taxi driver saw the third and final attack, and thought it was a robbery. The driver followed Rivera and alerted police, who arrested him near 46th Street and 1st Avenue, just hours after the killing spree began.
