Peekskill Schools To Renovate For A Sustainable Future
Extensive energy-efficient repairs and changes will include some outdoor classrooms, solar panels and air-conditioning.

PEEKSKILL, NY — Peekskill school officials have begun plans for renovating and modernizing the district's buildings with an eye to a sustainable future.
Projects totalling $45 million, which were approved in two propositions by voters on Dec. 12, will have no tax impact on residents because most of the expenditure will be reimbursed by New York State and because the district is retiring other debt.
"We are excited to renovate all of our schools and bring solar and sustainable energy applications to our district. It is our 'Promise for the Future,'" schools Superintendent David Mauricio said on Facebook. "Thank you again to everyone who voted."
