Proposed $132M Peekskill School Budget On The Ballot May 20

Also on the ballot are four candidates vying for three seats on the Board of Education.

PEEKSKILL, NY — The 2025 budget and school board vote is May 20, and three seats are up for election on the school district board.

The proposed spending plan of $131,740,528 is 7.06 percent higher than the current budget.

The tax levy is expected to be increased 1.5 percent.

"The 2025-2026 proposed budget is designed to sustain and expand the progress we have made," Superintendent David Mauricio said. "It continues to support rigorous academic programming, social-emotional learning initiatives, and robust extracurricular opportunities that nurture the diverse talents of our students. It also ensures the retention of high-quality staff, the integration of cutting-edge technology, and the provision of comprehensive support services."

Three school board seats are up for election, for three-year terms.

The candidates running are Mary Angel Flores, Hilda Kinga Portik-Gumbs, Frank Robinson Jr., and Jillian Villon (incumbent).
