Second Buff City Soap Location Slips Into Westchester

MOHEGAN LAKE, NY — A popular customizable soap "makery" recently celebrated the grand opening of its newest Hudson Valley outlet in Mohegan Lake.

Buff City Soap, a handmade retail franchise known for its plant-based soap and body products made in-store daily, recently opened its Mohegan Lake location at Cortlandt Crossing (3144 Main St.) on May 19.

"Buff City Soap will make a wonderful addition to the Mohegan Lake community," Buff City spokesperson Kara Howson said. "We can't wait to begin impressing our local guests with the wide variety of customizable, plant-based products we have to offer and keep them coming back for more."

The company's first Hudson Valley location opened late last year in Poughkeepsie and the first Westchester location recently opened in the Rye Ridge Shopping Center in Rye Brook.

Founded in 2013, Buff City Soap has created and filled an untapped niche for customers looking to avoid commercial soap products and the often harsh chemicals, detergents, animal fats and sulfates used in their production. The company has earned a dedicated, national following by giving customers the chance to see the whole making process from start to finish in each "Soap Makery."

Company officials said a focus on transparency of ingredients and process has been key to earning customer loyalty.

Each Buff City Soap, including the newest Mohegan Lake store, offers more than 30 customizable scents available in dozens of products, including bar soap, bath bombs, foaming hand soap and even laundry soap. The brand's products are crafted by local artisans at their proprietary in-store "Makeries," which allows bath aficionados to customize the scent and ingredients used to create a favorite scent profile.

The Mohegan Lake Buff City Soap will be open Monday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from Noon to 6 p.m. More information can be found on the Buff City Soap website.
