Westchester Co. Board of Legislators Honor Hendrick Hudson Seniors
Seniors Jonathan Chung and Melanie Porras were honored for their performance at the Regeneron Science Talent Search competition on April 24.

From Hendrick Hudson HS: Hendrick Hudson High School seniors Jonathan Chung and Melanie Porras were honored on April 24, 2017 by the Westchester County Board of Legislators for their performance at the Regeneron Science Talent Search competition. Jonathan was a Finalist and Melanie Porras a Scholar (Semi-Finalist).
All finalists and semi-finalists from Westchester County received a certificate from their respective district legislator. Jonathan Chung was honored by Catherine Borgia, District 9 legislator, who spoke briefly about his project. Melanie Porras was unable to attend, due to an athletic team commitment.
The Regeneron Science Talent Search is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors. The competition focuses on identifying the next generation of scientists and engineers who will provide critical leadership in solving some of the world's most pressing challenges while shaping the future of research and development for the nation and the world.

Hendrick Hudson High School’s Science Research Program is a rigorous program taking place over three years, generating authentic research at the level of graduate studies. “I am ecstatic that these two wonderful students were rewarded for their exceptional work in science,” said Dr. Christine Rogers, Hendrick Hudson High School teacher and Science Research Program Director. “It is an honor for these students and our district.”
