Five Pelham Memorial High School Swimmers Named 'Athletes of the Week'
Five members of the PMHS girls' swim and dive team were given the distinction after winning the Section 1 Championships.
From Pelham Memorial High School: Five members of the PMHS girls’ swim and dive team were named Athletes of the Week after winning the Section 1 Championships and finishing second overall at the New York State Championships held Nov. 18-19.
Sophomore Kate Douglass won the state championship in both the 50 and 100 yard freestyle. Junior Madison Hartigan placed 2nd in the 500 yard freestyle and 4th in the 200 yard freestyle. Sophomore Jennifer Bell placed 6th in the state diving competition. Senior Jane Bryce finished 18th in the 200 yard freestyle and 21st in the 100 yard freestyle.
The 200 and 400 yard relay team of sophomore Lucy Bischof, Bryce, Hartigan and Douglass placed 2nd and 3rd respectively.
