Nassau Firemen's Drill Tournament is Saturday
Watch dozens of fire departments from across the county compete in an old fashioned drill tournament this weekend in Rockville Centre.

Fire departments from across the county are gearing up for the 2015 Nassau County Parade & Drill Tournament, set for Saturday in Rockville Centre.
The celebration begins with an old fashioned drill tournament at Fireman’s Field at 8 a.m. At least 26 hometown fire departments have signed on to compete in the tournament, which will run until 5 p.m.
Tournament admission is $5 per person and free for children under 12 years old. Refreshments and food will be available throughout the day.

After the competition, more than 50 groups and 44 fire departments from Nassau County will march through the Rockville Centre business district for the annual parade, which kicks off at 6 p.m. The parade will likely end at 9:30 p.m. The route will begin at Lakeview and Jefferson Avenues, turn west onto Maple Avenue, south on N. Park Avenue, to Front Street W., and end at N. Village Avenue.
Finally, an award ceremony is set for 10:30 p.m. on Front Street.

Also after the competition, Rockville Centre businesses will be offering discounts and specials to all those wearing an “Explore RVC” wristband or a firefighter uniform for the day.
