Firefighters Called For Burning Wire On House Lawn In Nassau

Officials say residents were told to stay in their homes while firefighters and utility crews worked the scene.

PLAINVIEW, NY — Firefighters were called to a Plainview home Friday for a burning wire on the lawn.

The Plainview Fire Department received several calls for a burning wire outside a Ramsey Road home. Crews taped off the area and told neighbors to stay inside their homes until the power was turned off.

Utility workers shut off power to the line and crews extinguished the fire.

Several hundred homes and businesses remained without power in Plainview on Friday, including dozens in communities near Ramsey Road in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Isiasis, according to PSEG Long Island's outage map. The island saw numerous reports of downed trees and wires.
