Plainview JFK Names Class Of 2024 Valedictorian, Salutatorian
Safal Kamath earned a grade point average of 103.26 in the school's top honor.

PLAINVIEW, NY — Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK High School has named its Class of 2024 valedictorian and salutatorian.
Safal Kamath is the valedictorian of the graduating class. During his time at Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK, he took 15 Advanced Placement classes and the most challenging math course — Multivariable Calculus.
Overall, Kamath's grade point average is 103.26.

Aside from academics, he presides over the Chess Club, Mathletes and the Coding Club. Kamath is a vice president of the Spanish Honor Society. Additionally, he founded a tutoring service and a non-profit organization to promote STEM awareness. While his college plans haven't been announced, Kamath expects to major in computer science.
Salutatorian Matthew Kang earned a 103.08 cumulative average in high school, while taking 17 Advanced Placement courses. Kang was the founder and president of the Math Honor Society at Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK, where he developed a response to the growing demand for peer tutors.

He has been recognized as a National Merit Finalist and by the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. Kang will be pursuing an economics degree in college.
