Plainview Middle School Choirs Earn Musical Honor

7th and 8th graders combine choirs in New Jersey competition.

The combined choirs of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Middle School and Mattlin Middle School recently earned an “Excellent” rating and a trophy at the Music in the Parks competition at Six Flag Great Adventure in New Jersey.

The 7th and 8th grade choirs were under the direction of 5th grade general music teacher Amanda Gundling.

Music in the Parks mission is to bring together students and adjudicators in a positive learning environment that will inspire the students to strive not only for excellence, but also to make music a lifelong activity, organizers said.

In addition to their award, students received comments and feedback about their singing from experienced choral educators.
