Nassau Patio Furniture Catches Fire After Torch Falls

Officials say fuel in the torch ignited surrounding patio furniture at the home.

PLAINVIEW, NY — A torch fell over and ignited patio furniture at a Plainview home.

Around 9:45 p.m. Saturday, the Plainview Volunteer Fire Department was called for a house fire on Joyce Road, along with the Syosset Volunteer Fire Department with a dual response Engine Company.

Firefighters found patio furniture burning and discovered a torch fell over. Torch fuel ignited the patio furniture.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze before flames spread to the home. No one was hurt.
