Plainview Student Wins HANC Spelling Bee
The sixth-grader will compete in the Long Island Spelling Bee at Hofstra University on Feb. 8.
Rena Max recently won the school-wide spelling bee at the Hebrew Academy of Nassau County in Plainview for the second year.
Max, a 6th grade student from Plainview, will represent HANC Plainview at the Long Island Spelling Bee, which will be held at Hofstra University on Sunday, Feb. 8.
“Rena was among eight other students from grades 4, 5, and 6, who wowed the school with their advanced spelling skills,” said Mrs. Karen Fleishman, spelling bee coordinator.

Rena won the bee by successfully spelling “bhangra,” a form of Indian folk dance.
