Plainview Students Take Stand for Gay Rights
Gay-Straight Alliance takes a stand against bullying, name calling.

Plainview JFK High School's Gay-Straight Alliance Club recently orchestrated the school’s involvement in the National Day of Silence.
The National Day of Silence is meant to bring attention to Anti-LGBT name calling, bullying and harassment and to ask schools to address the problem.
Plainview students showed their support of the event by purchasing a Gay-Straight Alliance purple t-shirt or by wearing the color purple. Students were also able to pick up a vow card which allowed them to stay silent for the entire day in support of the cause.
The day ended with an “Ice Cream, You Scream, We All Scream for Gay Rights" party where students discussed the impact of the day on their views and understanding of the issues facing LGBT individuals.
