PC Police Catch Man Suspected of Two Burglaries

Port Chester police arrested a man they believe was involved in two burglaries in the last month. Mynor Hernandez, a 38-year-old Locust Avenue resident was charged with two counts of burglary in the third degree, a felony, and one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, on Sept. 8, Police Lt. James Ladeairous said.

Police believe Hernandez broke into Marini’s Deli by climbing through the kitchen vent, setting off a motion alarm, at 4 a.m. on Sept. 8. He allegedly stole $1,400 in cash, 700 in phone cards and six cartons of cigarettes, but left a gym bag behind. After investigating the burglary, police went to Hernandez’s home to make the arrest and found him hiding behind a washing machine in the basement. He allegedly admitted to that burglary and another that occurred on Aug. 10 at a gas station at 602 N. Main Street at 7:21 a.m. He allegedly stole $3,507 after breaking in through a window there, police said.

While searching him at the station, police found nine bags of cocaine in his pockets, which is why he was also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.
