2 Hurt, 1 Seriously In New Year's Eve Crash On Long Island: Police

A Ronkonkoma man was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of his injuries, Suffolk police say.

CORAM, NY — Detectives are investigating a three-vehicle crash that seriously injured a man in Coram on New Year's Eve, Suffolk police said.

The 33-year-old Ronkonkoma man was driving a 2024 Mercedes Benz SUV westbound on Norfleet Lane when he tried to pass, but sideswiped, a 2007 Toyota Camry, then struck a parked 2015 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, crashed through the fence in front of a home on Norfleet Lane, and then struck a tree before coming to a stop at around 4:25 p.m., according to police.

The Ronkonkoma man was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital in serious condition, police said, adding that a passenger in his SUV, a 28-year-old Ridge resident, was taken to the same hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

There were no other injuries, according to police.

The Mercedes was impounded for a safety check, police said.
