Motorcyclist Seriously Hurt Crash With Deer In Suffolk: Cops

PORT JEFFERSON VILLAGE, NY — A 77-year-old motorcyclist is seriously injured, after he struck a deer and hit his head on Wednesday morning, Suffolk Police said.

The Smithtown man was riding a 2019 Harley Davidson Trike on East Broadway, near Bridle Path, at about 11:15 a.m., when he struck a deer crossing the roadway, police said. He was knocked off his motorcycle and struck his head onto the pavement.

The three-wheel motorcycle continued to travel unoccupied for about one-fourth of a mile until it drove off the roadway, striking several bushes before stopping in the side yard of a Hoyt Lane home, police said.

The man was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital in serious condition, police said.

The deer was gone upon police arrival.
