Meg Ryan and Monica Consalvo’s science class is studying speed, velocity and acceleration. To determine an average speed, the students headed up to the school’s track to test their knowledge as they timed each other on their walking vs. speed walking speeds. Back in the classroom, they combined their math skills with their science skills to find the average of their speeds.
“At close, the students watched a video about the science of speed walking which allowed them to connect their learning to a real-world application of skill,” Consalvo said.
