Here are the top five stories in Port Jefferson today:

  1. The Paint Port Pink returns to promote breast cancer awareness in the village. The program is created by Port Jefferson Mather Hospital to support women under treatment and to educate the community about prevention. A fundraiser will be hosted at PoBoy Brewery at 200 Wilson St. in Port Jefferson Station on Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. More details to follow! (PJS Chamber of Commerce)
  2. Port Jeff Main Street will be the place to go for a walk to appreciate artwork from Oct. 17 through Nov. 1. The Fall Art Walk 2022 features our local artists showing off their talents on their windows. The Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce will distribute route maps detailing the art and author.   3. Theatre Three is putting a fundraiser together in honor of the theater's executive artistic director, Jeffrey E. Sanzel. The event will be held at the Danfords On The Sound on Oct. 8. at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail hour, three-course dinner and dancing. Tickets can be purchased here. (Theatre Three)
  4. September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and according to the data provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the number of suicides is increasing among school children. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention aims to create a mental health program for Long Island Schools. The suicide prevention hotline is available 24 hours at 988 or 988lifeline.org.
