The Bristal at Mount Sinai Celebrates Teacher Appreciation Day

The Day was Celebrated with Lunch Deliveries and a Special Visit from a 99-Year-Old Retired Teacher

The Bristal Assisted Living at Mount Sinai made Teacher Appreciation Day extra special for the educators of the Mount Sinai School District. In a heartfelt gesture of gratitude and community support, The Bristal team delivered freshly prepared lunches to local teachers, honoring their dedication, hard work, and compassion.

The Bristal's dining team prepared and delivered meals to the high school, middle school, and elementary schools, continuing a tradition that began in 2022 in celebration of World Teacher's Day.

The highlight of the day was a special visit from 99-year-old resident and retired teacher, Phyllis DiBernardo Moore, who joined the elementary school staff for lunch. Phyllis, who spent over 50 years teaching at Holy Spirit School in New Hyde Park, shared stories and wisdom from her teaching days. She left the teachers with one of her favorite sayings: “Learning is three-fourths listening.” The celebration became even more touching when kindergarten students surprised Phyllis with handmade artwork.
