Crime Report: Police Make Arrests Following Alleged Assault, DWI Crashes

Jose Anster, 33, of Coram, was arrested June 2 at a residence on Old Town Road in Port Jefferson Station, and is charged with second-degree assault, a felony. Police said Anster swung a knife at another man and caused injuries to his head and neck, sending him to Mather Hospital. Anster also faces charges of second-degree forgery for allegedly having a fake government document. He was held on $60,000 bond or $30,000 cash bail, and is due back in court Friday.
Police arrested a Port Jefferson Station man whom they say was intoxicated when he was involved in two car crashes on Jarvin Road. Henri Jimenez, 32, allegedly hit two other cars at around 9:30 a.m. and left the scene of both accidents, then pulled into his own driveway on Jarvin Road. Police charged him with DWI, a misdemeanor. According to court records, Jimenez posted $1,000 bail and is due back in court in August.
Steven Froehlich, 39, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested June 4 at his home and charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor. According to a police report, he illegally had a revolver in his possession. A police spokesperson could not say why police had been called to Froehlich's home or why the revolver was considered illegal. According to court records, Froehlich posted $500 cash bail and is due back in court in August.
