DWI Charges For 3 At Pre-July 4th Checkpoint In Suffolk: Cops
It was in a joint checkpoint with Suffolk police and deputy sheriffs, and state troopers.
PORT JEFFERSON STATION, NY — Three people were arrested in an overnight sobriety checkpoint in Port Jefferson Station Friday night into Saturday morning as part of ongoing efforts cracking down on impaired driving over the July 4th holiday weekend, Suffolk police said.
Officers from the police department’s Highway Patrol Bureau conducted a joint sobriety checkpoint operation along with deputies from the sheriff's office and state troopers at the corner of Route 112, at Hallock Avenue, from 11:40 p.m. Friday night until 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
Four hundred and fourteen vehicles went through the checkpoint.

In the operation, two 30-year-olds from Coram and Farmingdale, respectively, and a 41-year-old from Mount Sinai were charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor.
They were arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday.
