Long Island Weather: Election Day May Be a Stormy One
Thunderstorms may rumble on Long Island on Election Day. See when they are most likely to hit.

It's going to be a wet Election Day on Long Island.
Showers will develop from west to east across the region from the late morning and into the afternoon, the National Weather Service says.
Some of the showers may be briefly heavy with the possibility of a few thunderstorms. The winds will be out of the south and gusty at times, resulting in warmer temperatures, with highs reaching mainly the lower and middle 60s.

Minor coastal flooding in Nassau County and western Suffolk County is also possible during high tides Monday night and Tuesday morning.
Voters who want to avoid any potential storms should head to the polls in the morning or at night as the best chance of rain and thunderstorms will be during the afternoon.

Monday Night-Rain likely before 11pm, then patchy drizzle with a chance of rain between 11pm and 4am, then patchy drizzle after 4am. Patchy fog after 11pm. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 50. Northeast wind 9 to 14 mph becoming light after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Tuesday- Rain likely and possibly a thunderstorm, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Patchy fog before 10am. High near 66. Light and variable wind becoming south 11 to 16 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Tuesday Night- A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before 8pm. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 50. Southwest wind 10 to 13 mph.
Wednesday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 60. West wind around 9 mph.
Wednesday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 44.
Thursday- Sunny, with a high near 55.
Thursday Night- A 40 percent chance of rain after 3am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 42.
Friday- Rain likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 54. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
Friday Night- Rain likely, mainly before 9pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 42. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Saturday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 51.
