Free Shuttle Rides Offered For SBU Students To Port Jefferson

Stony Brook University students can now hitch a free shuttle ride to Port Jefferson.

You may not have a full scholarship, but Stony Brook students can now get a free ride to Port Jefferson Village.

Stony Brook University has partnered with the Port Jefferson Parking and Mobility Department to provide students a free shuttle that makes continuous trips from Port Jefferson to the college campus.

The service, which began last week, has stops at the shopping center on Route 25A, by Wild By Nature, Stop and Shop and the Port Jefferson train station. Passengers will be picked up at the SAC Loop, the Chemistry Loop and the Chapin Apartment bus stop.

The shuttle will run Thursdays from 3 to 9 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

According to the school, there were 245 pickups during the first weekend.

The service will run until May 23 and will return for the fall semester.
