Here are the top stories in Port Jefferson today:

  1. Port Jefferson EMS has a new volunteer on staff, a golden lab named Huckleberry.
Known to his counterparts as “Huck,” the 2-year-old Canine Companions for Independence facility dog has been hired to respond to stressful situations and bring a sense of relief to those in need. (tbrnewsmedia.com)
  2. Old Saint Nick will be making appearances all over Long Island this season but one of the most anticipated meet and greet with the big man is in Port Jefferson Village where he will be at The Roe House. Unfortunately, the appearance is so popular it’s already sold out. In order to avoid crowding and make visits more enjoyable for visitors, the village scheduled specific time slots that parties of up to six people could reserve for their visit. The scheduling also helped to eliminate long lines. There is no word if additional times will be scheduled to open up more visits with Santa Claus in Port Jefferson Village. (LongIsland.com)
  3. Lynn Freitag Jordan, a retired Mount Sinai school nurse, died on Nov. 3. Born on Feb. 5, 1941 in Mineloa, Lynn married G. Douglas Jordan in 1961, and the couple initially lived in Port Jefferson, where their daughter Phyllis was born. They later moved to Mount Sinai, where they welcomed two more daughters, Katherine and Elizibeth. Lynn completed her nursing degree in 1962 from the Bellevue School of Nursing at NYU. She served on local PTSA, Suffolk County Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, and was a founding member of the Mount Sinai Friends of the Arts. (Port Jefferson Patch)
  4. Another alumni of Babylon Union School District is coming forward with allegations of sexual harassment, this time by older students. When she was 15, she claims she was harassed and cyberbullied by a group of 18-year-old students who sent her sexually explicit messages.
Crawford claims that when she went to the principal's office for help, she was blamed for her abusers' behavior. (News12)
