Here are the top stories today in Port Jefferson:

  1. Horseback riding lessons are available now at Windwood Farms, a private barn located in Suffolk with an outdoor and indoor arena. All ages and levels are welcome. Helmets will be provided. Horse riding develops balance and improve coordination and motor function. Other advantages include strengthening of muscles, reflex acceleration and prevention of muscle cramps. (Press Release Desk)
  2. Port Jefferson Village is presently in the process of building a new addition to the building and planning structure to be partially used as an Emergency Command Center (ECC). The new ECC will house additional emergency supplies and equipment needed by village employees during and after an emergency event. The existing building will continue to house all Building and Planning department offices and staff. (Press Release Desk)
  3. 2021 Resident Holiday Door Contest: The Village of Port Jefferson is promoting a fun door decoration contest! It's time to be creative and light up the doors for the season!   4. Navy Sailor Killed In Pearl Harbor To Be Buried After 80 Years: Dec. 7, 2021, marks the 80th anniversary of the attacks on Pearl Harbor that took the lives of 2,403 U.S. military personnel and civilians. Servicemen killed during the attack are still being identified to this day, and one U.S. Navy sailor’s remains are finally being brought home. Sailor Kenneth L. Jayne was identified on Apr. 14, 2016, after being missing from World War II. The Patchogue Village Board recently approved a burial at Cedar Grove Cemetery on Dec. 4, at 11 a.m., for Jayne to be put to rest in his family plot. (GreaterBayShore)
