  1. Kayakers Rescued From Water Off Long Island: Two kayakers in distress were pulled to safety from Port Jefferson Harbor Thursday night. Marine Delta responded with the Port Jefferson Fire Department and, with the help of the Bridgeport and Port Jefferson Ferry company, found a man and woman sitting on the western jetty at the entrance of the harbor, police said. They were pulled to safety but declined any further medical attention. (Port Jefferson Patch)

Port Jefferson Elementary School Students Bake Pumpkin Bread: Students in Edna Louise Spear Elementary School baked pumpkin bread using the pumpkins they picked from a field trip to a farm in Setauket. The Fun Friday event encouraged teamwork, collaboration and peer interactions as students practiced following multistep directions and charting their process resulting in some seasonal culinary treats. Nearby News: Man Shot And Killed In Garage Of LI Home: A group of people were in the garage of a home in Huntington, when another group of people, at least one of whom was armed with a gun, walked up the driveway. The occupants of the garage closed the door and a shot was fired from the driveway, through the door, striking Louis Lombardo, said police. Lombardo was transported to Huntington Hospital where he was pronounced dead. (Daily Voice)
