A Kitten Trapped in a Storm Drain For 2 Hours was Rescued by Suffolk County Police Officers.

Suffolk County Police Officers from the Sixth Precinct rescued a kitten who was trapped for 2 hours 3 feet down a storm drain. At 6:00pm local residents on Clymer Street in Port Jefferson Station, New York called 911 to report a small kitten who was heard meowing down inside a curbside sewer. Suffolk County Police officer with the Emergency Services unit responded to initiate a rescue.
Local volunteer firefighters and Emergency Medical Technician's (EMT's) with Terryville Fire Department who lived in the area also responded to lend a hand. Officers used different tools and different techniques to try to bring the kitten into view.

According to Suffolk County Police, Emergency Service Section Officer Michael Viruet climbed into the sewer with a net and bucket and attempted to lure the kitten into the bucket. After several attempts, the kitten became scared and ran back into the tunnel. After 40 minutes officers were able to corral the small kitten close to a bucket.
An officer was able to grab the helpless kitchen and hand it off to a local EMT from Terryville Fire Department. The kitten seems wet, hungry, and thirsty but uninjured after a 3 hour or so ordeal.

Suffolk County Police confirmed that a local resident adopted the kitten after the rescue.
