Last Chance: Prepare to Vote in School Elections

Know what you need in order to vote in the next school district election.

If you're planning on voting in this year's school district vote - scheduled for May 15 - make sure you are registered or ready to do so. 

While Comsewogue School District voters can register at the school district offices every day prior to May 10, the district is also offering registration on Wednesday at two locations. From noon to 6:30 p.m., eligible district voters can register at the l rotunda, and from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., voters can sign up at . Registration will also be available before and after next Tuesday's school board meeting.

According to a message on the Comsewogue School District website, if a voter is not registered with the Suffolk County Board of Elections or the school district by May 10, he or she will be unable to vote.

In , no prior registration is necessary, so it's just a matter of making sure you have proper documentation. Qualified voters must bring one form of proof of residency, which would include a driver’s license, a non-driver’s license, a non-driver identification card, a utility bill, or a voter registration card.

Eligible voters in both districts must be a U.S. citizen age 18 or older, and must be a resident of the school district for at least 30 days prior to the vote.
