Mather Hospital Auxiliary Presents College Awards to Local Junior Volunteers

Seniors in high school who complete minimum requirements are eligible for the cash awards.

Auxiliary, which raises money and donates its time in service to the hospital, has given college awards to seven of its junior volunteers for their work at Mather.

The awards ranging from $500 to $2,000 are given to high school seniors who are active junior volunteers, have completed a minimum of 300 hours of service and demonstrated excellence in volunteering.

"Our hospital Volunteers and Auxilians are a vital part of our Mather Family," said Mather President Kenneth Roberts. "We would not be able to carry out our mission without the help of these dedicated individuals."

According to hospital spokesperson, Stuart Vincent, junior volunteers perform similar duties as the adults in Mather's Auxiliary –  escorting visitors and patients throughout the hospital, working in clinical areas, running errands for the various departments and helping out with fundraising activities.
