Mayor, 2 Trustees Running Unopposed in Village Board Race
Village board vote will take place June 18.

Just as they did two years ago, Port Jefferson Mayor Margot Garant, Trustee Adrienne Kessel and Trustee Larry LaPointe are running unopposed in the current village board race, according to a report published Wednesday in The Port Times Record.
Garant and Kessel are each running for what would be a third term, while LaPointe is running for his second term.
"There are too many major projects that need to be completed. I can't walk away at this point," Garant told The Port Times Record. She said she would like to see through projects related to the LIPA power plant, Upper Port, village master plan and refining of the village code.
Kessel expressed a similar sentiment. "There's a few big projects we've worked so hard [on], that I just need to see the finish line," she told the newspaper.
LaPointe said he wants to continue working on the village's parking issues, and told the newspaper he is proud of having worked to strengthen the relationship between the village and the Suffolk County Police Department related to homelessness and drugs.
Voting is June 18 at the Village Center from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
