Middle Island Man Charged With Assault After Scuffle With Officers: Police
He became combative when placed under arrest for having an open container of alcohol, Suffolk police said.
GORDON HEIGHTS, NY — A Middle Island man was arrested after a scuffle with police officers in Gordon Heights on Tuesday night, Suffolk police said.
Christopher Dyer, 32, was placed under arrest after he became combative when he was placed under arrest for having an open container of alcohol on Middle Country Road, near Wilson Avenue, at around 5:40 p.m., according to police.
Additional police units were called to the scene, and multiple passing vehicles stopped near the incident, causing a crowd, a police spokeswoman said.

He was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and harassment, a misdemeanor. He was additionally charged with two counts of second-degree obstruction of governmental administration, and two counts of resisting arrest, both misdemeanors.
Dyer was taken into custody, police said.
