Obituary - Edward V. Elenausky
Former Director of the Emma S. Clark Memorial Library dies at 78

Edward V. Elenausky, 78, originally from New Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died on August 29, 2022 in Greenport, New York.
At his request, no public service will be held.
He is survived by his sister, Anna “Marie” Gossick and many adoring nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Victor Elenausky, his mother, Anna (nee Dobrolsky), and siblings, Joseph, Victoria Doherty, John, Rose Noll and Theresa Pomian.
After graduating magna cum laude from LaSalle University, he attained a Master of Arts in Teaching from Johns Hopkins University and a Master of Science in Library Science from Drexel University.

Ed spent much of his life in public service. He taught English in the Philippines as a Peace Corps volunteer, worked for the Baltimore County Public Library system in the 1970s, was director of the New Jersey Summit Free Public Library in the 1980s and finished his career by serving 20 years as director of the Emma S. Clark Memorial Library in Setauket, New York before retiring in 2010.
Ed was an avid swimmer, a Lithuanian polka dancer and an easygoing intellectual who brought sage advice, uplifting conversation and laughter to those around him.
