Pedestrian Dies After SUV Strike In Hit-And-Run In Suffolk: Police

The man was struck a second time by another vehicle that remained at the scene, and then was later pronounced dead, Suffolk police said.

PORT JEFFERSON, NY — A pedestrian was struck by an SUV in a hit-and-run, and then a second time by another vehicle before dying in Port Jefferson Friday night, Suffolk police said.

The pedestrian was crossing Route 112 eastbound, south of Rose Avenue, when he was struck by an unknown SUV that was heading southbound on Route 112 and did not stop at around 10:13 p.m., police said, adding that a second southbound vehicle struck the pedestrian but remained at the scene.

The pedestrian, a man who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.
