Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Car

A 55-year-old man was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead Monday afternoon, police say.

RIDGE, NY – A 55-year-old man was struck and killed by a car in Ridge Monday afternoon.

According to Suffolk Police, Robert Stroud was walking northbound on Randall Road, about a half-mile north of Whiskey Road, when he was hit by a southbound 2008 Nissan Sentra at about 4:35 p.m.

Stroud, of Shoreham, was transported via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Nissan, a 35-year-old Shoreham woman, remained at the scene and was uninjured. No criminal charges have been filed.

Stroud, the chief product officer at XebiaLabs, was a frequent runner, according to posts on his Facebook page.
