Police: NY Man Who Threatened Stony Brook Student with Gun Pleads Not Guilty
Police said Joseph Bryan Lloyd confronted his ex, a Stony Brook University student, threatened her with a handgun to look at her cell phone.

A Brooklyn man pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges that include threatening his ex-girlfriend with a handgun, according to Suffolk County District Attorney’s office.
Joseph Bryan Lloyd, 31, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and one charge of menacing, according to a release from District Attorney Thomas Spota’s office.
The Stony Brook University Police Department arrested Lloyd in October 2014 after they responded to a 911 report that a man forcibly entered an office in the Social and Behavioral Sciences Building on campus, the release stated.

Police said Lloyd confronted his former girlfriend, a graduate student, and threatened her with a handgun, demanding to look at her cellphone. After checking her phone, he fled the scene.
Officers chased the suspect from the Stony Brook Long Island Rail Road platform into the nearby woods and arrested Lloyd, according to the release. The officers recovered a silver .38 Smith & Wesson handgun they said Lloyd tossed on the ground while being pursued.
