- The holiday DWI/DUI operation resulted in four arrests between Friday and Saturday in Port Jefferson. A sobriety checkpoint was placed on the corner of Route 112 and Hallock Avenue. According to Suffolk police, 472 vehicles were stopped at the point. (Port Jefferson Patch)
- Trustee Bruce Miller is honored by colleagues for his legacy in the Port Jefferson Village. Mayor Margot Garant and other trustees released emails about Miller's service time in the Village that started in 2014. Trustee Lauren Sheprow will take his chair. (TBR News Media)
- The Comsewogue Public Library Gallery invites the community for an artist reception on July 14 at 7:30 p.m. "All the Beautiful Things" exhibit is curated by V. Gay Gatta and will be displayed outside the Community Room. (CP Library)
- Business owners in New York have a lot to think about this summer. The state Legislature has passed a law that establishments will decide if armed customers are welcome inside the stores. A sign must be placed in the window if the business allows it. The new law was signed by governor Kathy Hochul and will be affected on Sept. 1. (News12)
