Here are the top stories today in Port Jefferson:

  1. Police say the body of a missing mother from Centereach has been found in the woods in Middle Island and her husband was arrested. Melissa Molinari was last seen on Nov. 21 at her home. The 43-year-old mother of four was not reported missing until last Thursday, Dec. 2. Police said they found her body in the Rocky Point Barrens State Forest off Currans Road in Middle Island. Her husband, Marcello Molinari, is now under arrest and charged with second-degree murder. So far, police have not released any other details about this case. (News 12 Connecticut)
  2. When Alec Simione was growing in Mt. Sinai, he would sit around with his friends, all fellow skateboarders, and dream about creating skateboarding companies. Now, 17 years later, Simione's life looks a lot like those childhood dreams. His street and skate wear clothing line, Critic Clothing, has been sold in streetwear shops in New York and California.   4. On Friday, Dec. 3, Port Jefferson village officials gathered at two lanterns on Main Street to remember Nan Guzzetta and Bradley Charles Collins. Across the street from her home and costume shop, a lantern was named for Guzzetta who passed away earlier this year. Guzzetta was a well-known and beloved costumer who dressed local actors and was instrumental with her involvement in the Dickens Festival. (TBRNews)

  • Santa Claus and the Ronkonkoma Fire Department are set to make the rounds in local neighborhoods on Saturday, Dec. 11, as part of the department’s annual Parade of Lights.
    The fun begins at 3:30 p.m. with firefighters escorting Santa down dozens of neighborhood streets. (Greater Long Island)
  • Students in Rachel Silsdorf’s clothing construction class at Smithtown High School West will be ready to show off their pajama pants during Holiday Spirit Week at the school at the end of the month. Using techniques learned throughout the course, Silsdorf’s students are producing the pajama pants from start to completion. (smithtownmatters.com)
  • Smithtown Township Arts Council is pleased to announce that the works of Nesconset artist Catherine Rezin will be on view Dec. 20– Feb. 17, 2022, at Apple Bank of Smithtown, 91 Route 111, Smithtown. The exhibition, part of STAC’s Outreach Gallery Program, can be viewed during regular banking hours Monday - Thursday, 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m.- 6 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m.– 1 p.m. (smithtownmatters.com)
