  1. Rise and Shine! Setauket Fire Department Auxiliary Department is hosting its annual Pancake Breakfast/Chinese Auction Fundraiser on Sunday, Sept. 18. The event starts from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Setauket Fire Department, located at 9 Arrowhead Lane, East Setauket. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $6 for children. Kiddos under 2 are free. (TBR News Media)
  2. A cat and a raccoon were rescued from a Port Jefferson drain one day apart. The staff from Strong Island Animal Rescue pulled the kitten to safety from the drain at Earl Vandermeulen High School in Port Jefferson on Saturday, and the raccoon was trapped on Main Street. (Patch)
  3. Attention book worms, Port Jefferson Free Library's next book discussion session is set for Saturday, Sept. 18. The Historical Happenings Book Discussion will bring "Who is Vera Kelly?" by Rosalie Knecht to the topic. The meeting starts at 10 a.m. in the Conference Room. (PJF Library)
  4. The division of the Port Jeff Station Pep Boys proposal is under discussion. The proposal was sent to Brookhaven Town to separate the station located at 5184 Nesconset Highway in Port Jefferson Station into two businesses.
