PORT JEFFERSON, NY — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Sharon Philbrick, who nominated her daughter, Ottilie of Port Jefferson.

How do you know the star local student?

She is my daughter.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Ottilie is one of the hardest workers I know. On top of her 99.35 GPA, Ottilie is a competitive dancer and captain of her varsity cheerleading team. She volunteers countless hours in the youth cheer program, is a member of the Varsity Club, Leadership Club and the Vice President of her 2024 class.

She volunteers on the unified bowling program in school and participates in numerous annual community events including parades.

She does all of this while helping her single mom and her three siblings. I am beyond proud of her. Thanks for your consideration.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

She has a kind heart. She is always willing to help and give to others.

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Ottilie!
